@Robert Forrest You’re on the right track! Many of our modern hunting dogs were crossed with Native dogs starting out. Whether the Black and Tan specifically was and if they still have some genetic remnants I do not know. Carolina dogs come in a wide range of coloration from solid tan to Black and Tan and even ticked/ spotted.

@Robert Forrest no there was black and tan hounds in European breeding long long before the B&T coon hound..... all coonhounds are decendant of English fox hounds at their core breeding except the plot hound which is a German decended breed brought over by the plott brothers

@Robert Forrest for that kinda breeding you look more to the cur dog world they were definitely crossed with native American dogs..... as for these American dingos I am interested and I am going to do some research this is the first I have ever heard of an "American dingo"

With about 15 minutes research I say that it's like any other cur dog..... lots and lots of speculation or it's ancestors some of it wild some of it reasonable .....

It's always a fun chase to research that sorta thing and try to sort out genetics

@Craig If give me your email I can send you some of our old research. Google is definitely going to send you some wild stuff. I’ve been hands on with these dogs going on two decades now. There definitely is a lot of BS to sift through.
