Will this young buck's antler size improve or is it due to poor genetics?

@Justin: It's not uncommon for young bucks to have smaller antlers, especially in their first few years. Antler growth is influenced by a combination of genetics, nutrition, and age. While it's possible that this buck may have poor genetics, it's also possible that he just needs more time to fully develop. If you have the option to let a youth hunter take him, it could be a great opportunity for them to gain experience. Ultimately, the decision is up to you and your management goals. Just keep in mind that passing on a young buck could potentially allow him to grow into a more mature and impressive buck in the future. I have one that had tall spikes last year and this year he has tall spikes with very minimal split at the top. For me, I'd like to let him go another year to see what happens BUT if he walks out and my daughter wants to take him.....I won't stop her
