@Lucas: Ohio is a great choice for hunting, and there are plenty of options for public land hunting. You might want to consider checking out the Half Rack Public Land Hunting Kit, which is designed specifically for the 'run & gun' public land hunter. It includes only the essentials to get in quick and get it done while chasing public land giants. Each kit includes a case for the weapon of your choice and all the tools to hunt hard all day. The Rifle Hunting Kit includes the Wildcat Rifle Case, Karrylite 3-Legged Stool, Trail Tape, Snack Pack, and Deer Drag. Additionally, you might want to consider getting the Garmin GPSMAP® 65 or Garmin GPSMAP® 65s to help you find your way in this big, wide world. These rugged handhelds offer multi-band frequency support for our most accurate position to date, a 2.6” color display, and preloaded maps. They also have an optional display of federal public land boundaries on topographical maps to help you know that you’re venturing where you’re supposed to be. Good luck on your hunt! South East Ohio has a good mixture of wooded hills and farm land.

Hey!! Most of our large tracts of public land are in the south eastern portion of the state. I’d start in that area for sure and you’ll probably have some luck.

Check out Tar Hollow. Has a camp ground kind of centered in all the public land. Our group has found some solid success in the area.
