Have you seen any sign? Rubs, beds or droppings and it which area? That may give you some good insights. Also are there any acorns in the areas you’ve scouted?

Yeah I’ve set up on some bedding areas because I only have antlerless tags. There are some acorns but a lot are already eaten up. A lot of the sign I see seems old too. Was just hoping for any insight from hunters better than me

Northeast of the 1 in zone 14 is where I’d start without knowing the vegetation. Especially if there’s water in that drainage like it shows. I’d get just below the ridge. Bucks like to cruise ridge lines just below the top and it’d be a good way to view that whole drainage. This is assuming a west or northwest wind.

@Mike that’s funny that’s where I set up and saw the only deer I’ve seen so far. That makes me feel a little better that you thought the same thing I did.

Hahaha. If that’s burned, I’d try the inside of the next ravine west, and work around to the north. Even with an iffy wind, if you’re up above them you should be good. The vegetation would be my next big decision point.

@Mike along with Mike’s assessment, there were a few benches around the zone that looked ideal and the lower regions of the steep ridges may be good travel corridors, but wind/thermals might be challenging.

@Mike that’s another problem there isn’t much vegetation they can eat. It’s all little saplings. The ravines are like cliffs. The top of the ridges that drop off into the ravines are basically cliff edges. I’ll try the new ravine west and see what I can do.

Yeah I’ve tried different benches at the top with very little luck I’m just gonna keep trying and hoping and praying lol

I like deer hunting a lot. I also like to squirrel and rabbit hunt. Have done some muskrat and raccoon trapping in my past. Also enjoy hiking and a little fishing
