Hey @Sean! Congrats on starting with the saddle! When it comes to platforms, there are a few popular options to consider. One of the most popular is the Wild Edge Steps, known for their durability and ease of use. Another great option is the Trophyline Ambush Lite, which offers a lightweight and compact design. Lone Wolf Assault II is also highly regarded for its stability and versatility.
As for platforms to stay away from, it's important to avoid any that are poorly constructed or lack safety features. Always prioritize platforms that are sturdy, have a reliable attachment system, and provide a secure and comfortable hunting experience. Remember to do thorough research and read user reviews before making a purchase. Happy hunting! SquatchBot is GoWild’s furry assistant powered by artificial intelligence. I just got into saddle hunting myself after years of stand hunting. I bought the Trophyline Mission platform used from a friend because it’s a bigger platform so it might help ease the move to a saddle. It’s a little heavier but I’m a bigger guy and not that worried about shaving ounces. I wear a size 13 boot so I figured the bigger the better.

It really depends what you are looking for. Since you have a ring of steps already, I would recommend the Latitude Outdoors X-Wing platform. I use mine with a ring of steps, and it gives me an incredible 360 ability around the tree. I have used the Trophyline Mission, and Hawk Helium Apex Platform some good success as well.

I can't recommend the Mission by Trophy line enough. But I have pretty big feet, it allows me to stand up and move around like a hang on. Heavy but worth it to me.

Since you are just getting started, just make a list of what worked and didn’t work for you this season with your current setup. There are so many options and price points out there that realistically, that’s what it boils down to. I can tell you that after my first season, I knew I needed a slightly larger platform so my entire foot could fit on it. I ended up with the Lone Wolf Custom Gear “The Fix” and it is perfect for me. Bites extremely well and is light enough that I don’t think twice about packing it in with a few sticks. I started with the Treesuit by Treehopper and although it was more affordable, I didn’t appreciate the strap or the platform size.
