    That seems fishy. I hope there are follow up articles so we can get more information.

    I read that article this morning. I have to agree Rick. As I understand the commissioner is not the most liked guy in the state. I know that you are retired law enforcement. So what is the cricket population threshold in a particular field to qualify as baiting?😂😂😂

    @T good question! 🤔😂

    @Gobbler it seems some technical expertise would certainly be needed for baiting a field with a critter that can hop off as soon as it hits the ground. The height of a mosquito net fence around the field that would keep the crickets in but not pose a barrier to the turkeys would probably be necessary. Seems kind of expensive too with the price of crickets I paid last year to take the kids bream fishing. 🤦‍♂️

    @T like I said, I’m betting there’s a whole lot more to this story.

    Maybe some of our MS neighbors here can add some perspective.

    @Jake @Wade can y’all shed some light on folks in’Sip baiting turkeys with crickets?

  • Jake's avatar

    @T man that is news to me I ain’t ever heard anything like that in my life lol

  • Wade's avatar

    @T man I’m with @Jake I’ve never heard of such a thing. It’s not like the crickets ain’t gonna just run off. I think some is just trying to cause this guy trouble

  • Jake's avatar

    @Wade i didn’t even know we had a wildlife commissioner lol

    “Assured me that there was no bait on the property “……….. ol’ boy needs to pick better friends if he truly had to ask that question, and a statement like that in my line of work is gonna get a man zapped. This story is well short of all the facts, haha

    @Mike I agree. The fact he felt compelled to check for bait is a clear indication bait was a question at some point.
