Wooly Buggers are usually a good choice or try to find a Hellgrammite pattern.

@David I might have to look up some Hellgrammite recipes. I've got quite a few wooly buggers.

@Derek the magazine is defunct now but I got a nice Hellgrammite pattern from American Angler a few years ago. I'll have to see if I can find it.

I've seen helgramite patterns cut out of black felt with chenile/pipe cleaner body with saddle hackle like a bugger and dumbell eyes. I recently tied up some jumbo hoppers out of craft foam and some felt leg foam head frogs. Got a half dozen drunk and disorderlies in the mail the other day that match those minnows I was using too

@Appalachian I've got quite a few clouser minnows that I think could work quite well like the minnows you were throwing a few weeks back.

@Derek Hope you get a few there's nothing like a hog smallie bowing a fly rod!

@Appalachian I'm really hoping! But no matter what, we're still gonna have a great time.

I always thought a muddler minnow might do the trick

I’ve had good luck with an egg sucking leach pattern. I added a little purple sparkle in the marabou and ended getting the five I tied up destroyed by bass.
