@Travis Williams I’ve never used one. But, I bet it would really be nice. How long is the battery life on them? I’m still shooting open sight, but it does seem like I tend to miss a bird almost ever year. I just get so jacked up when a bird is coming in!

Pretty crazy day of turkey hunting that led to this. Started hunting a Tom near his roost off the top of a hill. The hunt before he had stayed on that hill no matter what I tried. I was with my daughter and couldn’t really slip up any closer than I was. So decided to play the roost game. He called 70 yards over the hill and I have a couple yelps and he pitched down and game within 20 yards. I had planned to use my recurve this season and after 2 other very close encounters this definitely seemed like my chance. But he wouldnt come in to my hen. He stayed out of range and made a big loop around me. I decided after that it was time to get out the gun. Time to punch that tag. On my way to meet up with a buddy I swung into a smaller property I got permission on last year. 10 minutes and a gobbler answers. 10 minutes after that he comes in on the flat above me…and just as I’m about to shoot another head pops out beside him. I’m shook up and can’t get the red dot on him really well. Tried a shot and missed him. Stood up to see two longbeards running out of my life. Meet up with my buddy and we work our way out through a field on a property that really hasn’t produced much in recent years. We call and move. No gobbles. We are almost the end of the field and I tell my buddy I’m gonna call one more time. I do and hear a distant gobble that my buddy doesn’t hear. We slip into the woods and call next to a big tree and he hammers within 150 yards. We sit down quick and get ready. I tell my buddy he’s the shooter unless he doesn’t have the shot. It’s kind of open where we are and I’m not gonna risk getting busted setting out the decoy. Within 5 minutes he comes in full strut right down my gun barrel. He holds up at 40 and seems to be realizing there’s no hen in sight. My buddy gives me the green light and the Steven’s 301 410 rolled him. Got it all on film which should come out soon. Pretty awesome experience.
