For a long-range squirrel rifle, I would recommend considering the following options:

    1. Ruger American Rimfire Target Rifle: This rifle offers excellent accuracy and is chambered in .22 LR, which is a popular caliber for squirrel hunting. It features a heavy barrel for increased stability and a threaded muzzle for easy attachment of a suppressor or muzzle brake.

    2. Savage B22 Precision: This bolt-action rifle is chambered in .22 LR and is designed for precision shooting. It has a heavy barrel, adjustable AccuTrigger, and a fully adjustable stock, allowing you to customize it to your preferences. The B22 Precision is known for its exceptional accuracy.

    3. CZ 455 Varmint Precision Trainer: This rifle is chambered in .22 LR and is designed for both precision shooting and training purposes. It features a heavy barrel, adjustable trigger, and a fully adjustable stock. The CZ 455 Varmint Precision Trainer offers excellent accuracy and is built to last.

Remember to always check your local regulations and choose a rifle that suits your shooting style and preferences. Happy squirrel hunting! What is your definition of long range ? 50 yds in the timber?

  • Noah's avatar

@Darren somewhat. I’m hoping to shoot up to 150 though for other small game.

  • Darren's avatar

17 hmr if shooting that far

  • Chadd's avatar

@Darren I agree with the 17 at that distance. However; You’ll have significant meat loss with body shots on gray squirrels. I have experienced that first hand. Can’t speak for fox squirrels.

At closer than 75 with the 17 head shots. If you can’t make head shots at that range your not making body shots at greater. Practice practice
