Top Guns for Deer Season: .270 vs 7mm Magnum - What's Your Favorite?

I use a 6.5x55 Swedish which is very similar to the 270. Just dawned on me today that my gun is 122 years old!

We are limited in Ohio to straight wall. I currently have two setups rifled barrel shotgun and a bushmaster 450 scout edition.

I have always used a 30-30 my son uses 270

I have bipolar disorder and I hunt with either a .243 or a .45-70, depending on the mood I’m in.

Where I am at in Michigan we are Shotgun or Straight walled cartridge. Currently using 350 Legend and liking it.

Indiana has 2 sets of laws, one frollor public and one for private. Public requires basically pistol cartridges, I use the 357 Remington Maximum. Private can use more conventional high powered rifles, 243,270,6.5,30-06,etc.
I don't have one of these rifles but my private property doesn't offer many shots over 200 yards anyway, so the 357 Max is totally adequate.

I hunt private land in indiana and use 6.5 creedmoor and if I hunt state land in indiana I use 350 legand

In Illinois right now it is shotgun only, but they are about to change that. With that said, I have been using my 20 Browning A5 for the last 50 years, and when I go to Wisconsin I take my Enfield British 303 to hunt with.

.270 was my 1st gun, then I started using my dad’s 30-30. Also have shot .223 in an AR-15. 30-30 by far is my favorite

I use a 30.06 that works great

This year, I have been nostalgic to the 25-06. But it seems to change from year to year.
