Looks like a great time! I got to attend an all women’s turkey hunt in Wisconsin in 2008 and it was amazing. Only 8 women were chosen from those that wrote an essay to the Beginning Outdoors Women (BOW) organization of why they wanted the chance to learn turkey hunting. We ranged in age from 24 to 66 and spent three days there, learning and hunting with four generous mentors. We each went home with a turkey, 5 toms, 2 Jakes, and a bearded hen (mine). I’ll always treasure those memories and the people I met there!

What did I do during the closing weekend of duck season? I had the honor of taking some awesome women on a duck hunt! I brought a group of 7 women, (most were newbies to duck hunting, and a couple had never hunted at all!) to an Old Florida Waterfowl Hunt I put on for Artemis Sportswomen down at Pearce Cattle Company in Okeechobee FL. Friday included shotgun safety review, some duck hunting tips and pointers, sporting clays, and then grouper, duck poppers, grilled veggies and fresh pineapple cake for dinner around a bonfire!! Bright and early the next morning, we waded in to the duck blind, and then these ladies effortlessly shifted to Snipe hunting when the ducks would not cooperate. None of it would have happened were it not for Travis Thompson, Matt Pearce and Harry Huff from PT Outfitters, hosting us. MTM Photo snapped some pictures I can’t WAIT to see. Oh, AND Matt Pearce cooked a lovely brunch of sausage, back strap and coffee over a campfire out in the oak hammock. What a great group, and great memories and friendships were made!
