@Gobbler I've already started my next book, haha. Buddy Levy's new book, "Empire of Ice and Stone". Back to my obsession with the arctic. I usually have a stack of about 5-10 books that I'm waiting to read, but I'm definitely adding more books from the Winning of America series to that stack.

I’m still trying to finish undaunted courage, it’s a good book

@William that one is also in my stack of books to read.

@Derek it’s a great book, goes into every detail, personal journal entries from Lewis and Clark. Even information on the boats, equipment and all men that enlisted for the journey. Also so much information on Sacajawea and charboneu and how useful they were.

@William I've been looking forward to it for a while. Almost started it next, but decided to go back to Arctic exploration. It will probably be the next one I read.

@Derek the next book I want to read is “one man’s wilderness “ by Richard pronoke. Stumbled upon the documentary on YouTube. It’s like “life below zero” but set in the 60s instead of modern times. It’s really cool.

@William very good book! You learn a lot more about him and what all he did to live up there in the book versus the documentary.

@William it's also a very quick read.

It boggles my mind, my ancestors have been in this region since forever and I just wonder how many of them new of or had encounters with these guys. I mean NC into Virginia and down through the Cumberland Gap, there had to be some crossover there.

I've never heard of Simon Kenton.

@David unfortunately a lot of people haven't, but he has a story that is just as good if not better than Daniel Boone's.

That’s next up for me. I just finished “Mountain Man,” a good one about John Colter.

@Eric I'm assuming that's not "Mountain Man" by Verdis Fisher? I read that one and I don't remember it being about John Colter, haha.

@Derek not that one (do you recommend it?) this one was by David Westin Marshall

@Eric I do. It's a great book. One of the two movies that the movie "Jeremiah Johnson" was based off of.

@Derek looks like I’ll have to add another to the Audible queue, thank you! I’ve been on a “westward expansion” kick lately. All of the names people grow up hearing about, but get glossed over in history class for the sake of the bigger names.

@Eric I will say, Verdis Fisher's book is not factual at all, haha. Just want to be clear on that. If you want factual books, I have much better recommendations, but it's still an incredible book.

@Derek ah, good to know and thanks for the clarification (and letting me half hijack your post here apparently…)!

@Eric not a problem! Don't mind the hijacking one bit, haha.

I found a hardback copy of that book while visiting my dad one day. Took it home with me to read. Great book. Really enjoyed it. Lot of history in it. Makes me what to float down the Ohio river.
