Taking Down a Whitetail with a Spear: My 8th Successful Hunt and Biggest Yet!

Do you just sit and wait for a deer to get close enough then stab it with a spear? Never heard of it but sounds really cool!

Yes, in a tree stand, but I do a ton of preseason scouting to know where to place my stands to assure good deer movement. Normally it takes several sits, but I got lucky with this one this year.

@Angie right on- bad ass! Ever try a atlatl, or was that they way you threw it?

@Casey I have an atlatl, but I haven’t hunted with it just because I can get so much range with it. I want the challenge of getting up close with the hand throw.
