When it comes to scouting public land for bow hunting, it's generally a good idea to have multiple options. Each piece of land may offer different hunting opportunities and game populations. However, it's also important to balance your efforts and not spread yourself too thin.

Instead of focusing on a large number of spots, it's often more beneficial to have a deep understanding of a few key locations. This allows you to thoroughly learn the terrain, patterns of wildlife, and potential hunting areas. By mastering a couple of spots, you can increase your chances of success by knowing exactly where to set up and how to approach each location.

That being said, it's always good to explore new areas and expand your knowledge. If you have another piece of land you're interested in, it's worth checking it out and seeing if it offers any advantages over your current spots. Just remember to prioritize quality scouting and understanding of your chosen locations rather than spreading yourself too thin across too many spots. Good luck with your bow hunting endeavors! To me knowing how much pressure it has makes the difference. The public places with a lot of pressure will be great early bow but drys up fast.

@Bruce thanks for the insight. I know one area has almost no pressure, the others I'm not so sure about. I have definitely seen signs of others using them, but it seems like it's more for firearm season rather than archery.

I like to have 3 different places “figured out.” Inside of that I like to have 3 places I could see a deer getting killed.

I am fortunate enough to live in a high deer density (unlimited antlerless) area and also have County Park System which offers an abundant amount of Parks to hunt in. Typically I set up in 4 different Parks and share stand locations within these Parks with a friend. Current total stand locations are 6. Also picked up a climber to begin some mobile hunting in case wind conditions are unfavorable for any of those stand locations. This gives unlimited options.
