    Benches near cover, any point that makes a sharp turn (finger), and where there’s a small open spot inside heavy cover.

    @Cameron the spots you circled are pretty dang close to what I have marked. It’s a tricky little spot with how the wind moves in there but I think there is a big buck living in there somewhere. Thanks for ur input!

    @Rashaud I would hang out around the two circles closest on the photo. That green section from the tight turn is a perfect funnel to the benches where does should be feeding. Are there white oaks on the flat spots?

    @Cameron there are a lot of red oaks and hickory trees in there. No acorns from what I’m seeing this year, we had a very late frost that hurt the oaks this year. There is one big white oak towards the top of the drainage on the right that has some acorns but they are premature and dropping already.

    @Rashaud K. Focus where white oaks will make a good crop.

    @Cameron thank you!

    @Rashaud You are welcome. Get a bear tag too and hunt it during fall bear season.

    @Cameron we get a bear tag with our regular season tags here in NY. There is a bear in there I had it tear one of my cell cams down a few weeks ago lol

    @Rashaud Are the white oaks that haven’t dropped yet making buckshot size acorns?

  • Rashaud's avatar

    @Cameron yeah they are small.

  • Cameron's avatar

    @Rashaud Those are red oak acorns.

  • Rashaud's avatar

    @Cameron correct I just put that picture up as a size reference for the acorns that are falling currently

    @Rashaud Gotcha. Be looking for these.

    @Rashaud Hunt where the scat is large and stays fresh. If it starts to disappear,keep moving till you find the spot.

    @Cameron yes sir that’s what the acorns under the big white oak look like. Couple years ago we had the same issue with a late frost and premature acorns dropping early and I don’t know if the tree regrew the acorns or what happened but we ended up having a good amount of acorns later in October towards Halloween.

    One thing we do have a good crop of this year is apples and there are a couple good apple trees in there

Love everything outdoors but whitetail hunting is my game. Trying to learn some new tactics from others who are not afraid to share or help.
