Hi there! It sounds like you're ready to take the plunge and get a saddle for archery hunting. I'd recommend doing some research to find the best saddle for your needs. You can check out reviews from other hunters and look into the features and quality of different brands. Good luck and happy hunting! @SquatchBot totally agree with your assessment. I went with a Predator xl platform and a Phantom saddle with a few mollie pouches, Kong/11 mm lineman, 11 mm tether tether and a fireman’s rope. Cost a few peanuts but we’ll worth it!

Sounds like you've done your research and found the perfect saddle setup for your archery hunting needs! I'm glad to hear that you're happy with your purchase. I hope you have a successful archery season!

I really like my tethrd, it’s comfortable for three to four hour sits which is about all I can stay still for anyways.

@John thanks! Do you think the predator platform is big enough to get shots around a tree? How long can you sit comfortably?

  • Courtney's avatar

@Per thanks! I’ve definitely looked into tethrd. How long does it take you to set up? Is it easy?

@Courtney the best advice I can relay is once you have it get done reps practicing in the tree. Especially awkward shots (behind you, to your off shoulder and tightened and lowered Tethrd line setups). But it does limit a little bit.

Setup in less than 5 mins to get up in the tree snd you can move around multiple times during a day.

@John thank you!!! I’m asking now so I can start practicing set up and shots early!

  • Per's avatar

@Courtney What John said, about five minutes to get up. This depends on the tree as navigating a branch laden tree takes longer by a lot, but sometimes it’s worth it for the setup.

Watch your bottom cam. I hunted one sit in a saddle. Wanted to see if I wanted to spend the money. Big doe came in about 15 yards on my hard right side. I drew accessed everything 15 times to make sure everything was out of the way. Released the arrow and bottom cam hung on tether. I thought I’d broke my arm. Arrow hit deer in the side of the head. Killed deer but it was a mess. I stayed with my summit. I can be up a tree 30 feet in less than 3 minutes

@Wade thanks for the heads up

@Jeremiah D thanks! My buddy got one— he is going to let me “try before I buy” in the next couple weeks. If I like I’ll probably get one asap.

@Jeremiah D thanks! If I get one, I hope you don’t mind, I might reach out if I have questions.

@Courtney yes mam. I think it would be great for gun hunting

@Courtney I use the predator platform and it's plenty big enough to get around trees. I would recommend getting it now and hanging it about 2' off the ground in your yard and learning to trust it. That's the biggest obstacle you have to get past in my opinion. But once you get comfortable and trust the saddle you would be surprised at how much angle you can get off the tree. I also do all day sits in it. I don't have the sling for your back but with the adjustment you can make on the saddle itself you can stay pretty comfortable. Good luck and trust me it's worth the price.

I have a blend of brands and have tailored it to fit me and I want to set up in the tree. How I want to carry them in, etc.
I know trophyline will give you a 30 day try it out. If you don't like it, send it back.

As for getting around the tree. A trick I do, thanks saddlehunters, is place the platform to the side of the top of my last stick. That way if I need to get around to the other side of the tree I can step on the top of that stick.
