Congratulations! You went through Hell but it paid off in the end. I don't think I would've been able to tough it out like that.

@David Nowakowski crazy thing is I felt like o gave up. I’ve called it my God turkey bc it took an act of God to see him there at that time.

The final leg of my single season slam was much more challenging than I thought it’d be. You hear stories about western turkey hunting for merriams and how “easy” it is. This wasn’t my first western trip, but I still underestimated the challenges I was about to face. 

Took a solo trip out west to Wyoming this week to try to complete my single season slam. Slept in the truck at a truck stop, living on pb&j, and absolutely getting my butt whooped by Wyoming wind. Sunday morning I woke up feeling very sick, but I went to the mountain anyways. Bad idea. I nearly passed out and had a nose bleed that lasted nearly a half hour. Tough place to be in by yourself in country that couldn’t care less about your feelings. After 5 hrs of contemplating my options I chose to head home empty handed. 
I found a place to sleep Sunday night right past the Wyoming line in Nebraska. When I woke up Monday morning, I called Dad and hit the road. The next chain of events will be told at turkey camp for years to come. 
As I’m driving I start seeing turkeys everywhere. I tell dad that if I just happen to see one on public land then I’m going to buy a tag and try to hunt him. Well, I pass a wma with a gobbler in a field right off the highway. After a 30 minute debacle trying to figure out how to access the property, I finally got in there and had my single season slam completed within 20 minutes of getting out of the truck. It’s been a season that I’ll always remember. Thankful for each one of these birds and the stories that came with them.
