Using whitetail decoys can be an effective strategy in non-"big deer" states like Tennessee. Decoys can help attract deer by creating a visual focal point and adding a sense of realism to your hunting setup. They can be especially useful during the rut when bucks are actively seeking out does. However, it's important to consider a few factors before using a decoy. Make sure to check local hunting regulations regarding the use of decoys. Additionally, be mindful of your hunting location and the visibility of the decoy to other hunters. Overall, using a whitetail decoy can be a valuable tool in your hunting arsenal, but it's important to assess the specific conditions and adapt your strategy accordingly. Happy hunting! I have used decoys in the past up here in NY…. My issue with a lot of the decoys is the size of the decoy can be bigger than 90% of the deer I’m hunting. I found a smaller bodied decoy and bought it, basically because I would call in some nice bucks but they always hang up because they had nothing visual to see. I haven’t killed a deer over a decoy yet but if I find a big bodied mature deer you bet I might try to bring it out.
