@Tarra Stoddard thank you! I didn’t shoot it. The hunter lost blood while looking for the deer and called me to track it with my dog. 😁 

It’s great y’all was able to complete hunt. 

Saturday’s Track #2 

Not the typical track and recovery… 

This recovery was the result of a joint effort between Scarlett, the hunter, and the buzzards 😅 

The hunter was out with his son Saturday morning when this great looking 9 point came within 20 yards for what seemed like the perfect shot. He thought he hit him a tad high and behind the shoulder. The deer ran about 60 yards, stopped and wobbled, and then ran out of sight. The hunter thought the deer went northeast after that. After waiting in his stand for an hour, he and his son went to where he last saw the deer standing and found a few drops of blood. After looking around for awhile to the east and not finding anything else, he decided to call in a dog. 

We took up the track Saturday evening. After gaining permission from adjoining property owners, we entered the area from the northwest. As we were walking in Scarlett began searching the wind and gave a proximity alert, to which I said, “Scarlett already smells it!” When we walked out into an open area we could see buzzards just above the timber about 50 yards to the east of us, but the opposite direction the hunter thought the deer went. As we walked into the timber the hunter spotted his deer!! The hit was exactly where he thought. 

It’s awesome that his young son was a part of the hunt and the recovery process!
