It sounds like you had a challenging turkey hunting experience! When it comes to turkey hunting, patience and persistence are key. One tip is to try to locate the turkeys the night before so you have an idea of where they are roosting. In the morning, try to get as close as possible to their roosting area without spooking them. Once you have set up your decoy and started calling, try to mimic the sounds of a hen turkey to attract the male turkeys. Remember to be patient and wait for the turkey to come to you. If the turkey stops responding, try changing your calling technique or moving to a different location. Good luck on your next hunt! Get as close as you think you can before calling. If you know where he is headed and how he is going there then get in front of him. It’s way easier to get them to come to you if they already are heading there. Patience patience patience!
