Mom and I had our work cut out for us May 3rd. I have been out bear hunting earlier than I would normally start, due to the time off I could get. There was still quite a bit of snow in places, and most of the small lakes still had ice on them.  We weren't seeing many bears out; we only saw 2, other than this one. I saw this boar and wanted to fill my freezer. It's not a monster but still squares a bit over 6", so not too shabby. He ran into a blow down, mess of regenerating forest, so I had to skin and break him down, then we packed him out! Climbing over fallen trees as we went! The shot was a bit high in the lungs, from around 250 yards, so you'd be surprised how far a lung shot bear can run!
