To me getting 2 does together is better than getting a buck by myself. 

My dad’s health is failing and I’m not sure if there’s much hunting in his future.  So I really wanted to get out together in case this was the last year we could do it together. 

It took some doing to get my dad motivated to get up in the morning but we got up and to the stand before first light. 

We sat for awhile when he spotted two doe working through the tree tops of a recently logged out area. He couldn’t get the gun on them quick enough though. 

Awhile later two doe came down on the other side of the stand. He spotted them first, but they were on my side so I took the shot. It reacted like it was hit but didn’t go down. So I climbed down to check for blood. I found a bunch and followed the easy blood trail. I quickly came up on her standing in a blow down. Another shot and she was down. She is a nice big doe that will yield a good amount of meat. I field dressed her and dragged her to the stand and got back up to see if my dad could get one. 

About 2 hours later I see a group of does working through those tree tops coming right at us. So dad and I quickly switched spots. He dropped her in her tracks with a perfect shot. 

We’ve never doubled up together from the same stand so it was a special day.  Unfortunately I don’t think there’s too many of these in our future.
