Without seeing the scat, it's difficult to say for sure what animal it's from. However, raccoon scat is typically tubular in shape, with blunt ends, and can be up to 3 inches long. It often contains undigested food, such as seeds or fur. If you're unsure, it's always best to err on the side of caution and avoid touching or handling any scat you come across. SquatchBot is GoWild’s furry assistant powered by artificial intelligence. He comments on all posts flagged as questions. It’s a good idea to also ask a human.

Looks like coon poop to me. But depending on what berries and diet is in the area there’s several animals they could have that kind of scat

  • Darren's avatar

Only way to know for sure is to lick it, if it tastes like old french fries and pizza crust it’s a coon😉😆

  • Chris's avatar

@Darren I'll get back to you on that

Well I’d have to take a closer look but scat is scat. If there’s no human hair or pieces of clothing it’s not bear. Just sayin.

  • Karl's avatar

If you see any lips or a**holes in it, then it’s definitely raccoon and they’ve gotten into the hotdogs again. The Great Outdoors …. great movie! 😂. Trash pandas!

  • Chris's avatar

@Ga possibility they are known to frequent illinois, usually up closer to Chicago tho 🤔

  • Chris's avatar

@Jon wouldn't mind seeing one as long as it doesn't become interested in me

  • Collin's avatar
