Try to get there as quickly and quietly as possible and tie him up. Praise him for treeing. Over time that tends to tighten a dog up on the tree

When the dog comes to you catch him and tie him there, walk to the tree knock the coon out let him hear the dog that is there get rewarded. Don't praise him at all or let him bite on the coon till he stays at the tree.

My dogs leave the tree sometimes too. I don't have an experienced dog to show them. When mine show treed I have to run in there and get to the tree before they leave. Most times I don't make it and painstakingly have to search the area and try locate the tree myself based on the GPS and walk the dogs back in. Usually doesn't work out but sometimes it has. Bit of a different situation but I feel your pain
