My grandson enjoyed this Blue Tailed Skink we found in the yard. 

As a kid I grew up searching for reptiles and amphibians.  When I got to college I was amazed when we started our field work in late February!  This is an awesome time of year to get the waders on and search ponds and streams for all of those cool critters!  Just heard the spring peeper chorus for the first time this year last Saturday.

I’d suggest this for anyone trying to get out of the house and into the great outdoors. I’m a wildlife bio minor at my university and am studying herpetology this semester. Herping is pretty rewarding and knowing what you catch makes it twice as fun! These are the pickerel frog (lithobates palustris) and the streamside salamander (ambystoma barbouri). It was a very rewarding experience and all you need is your hands.
