My dad trapped his whole life until he was about 80 years old. I used to trap when I was a kid back in the 70ās. Some great memories and good money back then. Good luck, it can be tough and fun at the same time.

Been back at it now for ten years. I started when I was a kid and then life happened up until ten years ago. Now I donāt miss a season here and most years I start my season in Nebraska chasing coyotes and big coons. š Iāve never trapped under the ice before. It looks like a blast for sure

Been trapping since 1967, trap mostly for raccoon, beaver, coyote, anything that is legal in Illinois I guess you can say. Good luck, I love to see the younger generation trapping. š

I trapped my 1st fox with my grandfather's help 55 yrs ago. I was 11 yr old. Since then I've trapped and lived in 5 different states. Beaver have always been my most productive furbearers. Keep after them and good luck !

@Mark I would have to say together we have over 100 years of experience, I don't know if that's a good thing or not, just makes us a couple of old farts chasing our passion for the outdoors...lol

I started trapping when my Dad would carry me around in his pack basket when he checked his traps.

@Brian thanks for sharing your trapping heritage! I agree we need more younger generations trappers, hopefully sharing inspires others my age to learn the ropes if they can find a mentor to teach them!

@Hayley you might do better snaring in that snow. Save the footholds for early season. You ever do any open water spring beaver trapping?

That looks awesome! I'm just now learning to trap. I have coyote and fox needing some thinning on my property. Killing chickens. Got signed up for a trapping class hosted by Tennessee fish and game
