I  was in the water too! Ran down the hill and across the creek but couldn’t make it up the other side and stumbled down into the water. Pulled him out and used the hill to my advantage when I field dressed him. Congrats! You got a nice buck!

The public land is always a grind, but I wouldn’t change a thing. I thank god everyday for everything he has given.

This year I really focused about learning as much as I can instead of just filling a tag. The night before I decided where I was going to hang my saddle. I picked what was some very thick cover/bedding, and found a tree on the down wind side. The spot was on the x, smaller bucks and does created plenty of action the first couple hours. My stomach started to growl, so I dug out a bag of pretzels. With a mouth full of pretzels I turned my head around and saw this guy standing in my only shooting lane on that side of the tree. I was able to draw back only to look at his antlers for a little longer and decided to let down. Once I let down he turned his head and showed me the whole rack, then I knew he’s a shooter. Once I pulled back for the second time my whole body and bow was swinging in the saddle, my pin going from neck to rear. I took a couple seconds and settled my pin, and Broke a great shot at about 32 yards.
