On the same hunt from my previous video, I managed to fill a doe tag to lift my spirits. She was one of 4 that came out about 20 minutes after my miss on the small 8. I told my buddy that if they made it to 125 yards I'd try it but remembered I hadn't chambered another round yet. Of course as I tried to slowly open the bolt, so I could catch the casing, it managed to eject and clang off the foot rest and ladder. They bolted out to 200 but worked their way back to 150. They were on high alert after my buddy shot at a spike on the frontside of the farm as they were feeding back towards me. When she stopped broadside with no deer behind her I pushed the record button but didn't feel the vibrations of it turning on, the battery died. I brought the crosshairs down right behind the shoulder and squeezed. She whirled around tail up and headed for the treeline. As she ran it looked like her tail flattened out and she was getting closer to the ground but I wasn't sure, my self confidence was still down after seeing the buck stand and look at me after the 1st shot. I decided to climb down and go check where the buck was standing 1st, that's when it sunk in that I really had missed twice. My buddy offered to come look with me andni met him up where the doe had been. Being colorblind can make tracking difficult in the best conditions and with the ground well saturated with rain it was impossible for me to find blood. Thankfully he found it rather quickly and walked us almost straight to her 70 yards into the trees. We went back to where the buck had been and still found nothing.  We drove around to where his buck was laying and loaded it up as well. It's his 1st deer in at least 3 years so congrats to him too!

What good is a high powered rifle, capable of consistently hitting long range targets, if you can't see long range? My Savage .308 topped with a Vortex Viper HS means I don't have to worry about it. More range time is needed for consistent accuracy, just because you read the add or watched video of somebody else doing it doesn't mean everybody can.
