After a buck that wouldn’t cooperate last year. Prepared this year to shoot him from a long way off 😆 Remington 700, 30-06, Hornady 178gr ELD-X

@Nate But you can’t get better hunting than almost shaking hands distance-especially since encounters are so fast. You don’t have time to get buck fever.

@Cameron I have learned to love the close encounters through turkey hunting, it definitely makes for an adrenaline rush. HOWEVER... pulling off a 300+ yard shot is a beautiful thing of marksmanship and a strong understanding of ballistics. It’s a skill to be honed and not as easy as many make it out to be! Not just anyone can make those long range kill shots. But to your point, it is a fun and different world to be that close!

@Nate 👍 Big game hunting upclose is a hoot. You got to be fast on the shot! Just five seconds or less and big boy disappears into the thick.

@Nate The buck I got last year was around seven yards away. Mr. King was around maybe 8 or nine yards. Was not ready for it.

@Nate That’s the beauty of hunting in Appalachian and BlueRidge Mountains: there’s a surprise around every corner and you never know what you’re going to run into.

@Nate You ever been in those mountain ranges?

@Cameron I have not. My hunts take place in the wide open spaces of NE and it’s surrounding states!

@Nate Gotcha. If you ever do come to South Carolina, send me a message and I will take you to some hunting spots I frequent. Plan your visit around when hunting is going on. Will be more than happy to show you the fun it is here!
