found my first this year! they are tasty man! I don't think they're made of gold like it seems like some people do but they are good. I like chicken of the woods just as much as morels. they blend it good and are tough to find for sure. I don't spend a whole lot of time looking because I'd rather be scouting for birds or shed hunting but I did find my first morel this year and it's neat. his something else to look for while you're out and about enjoying God's creation.

@David I have yet to try chicken of the woods, and haven’t cooked the morels up yet, but will. It was neat to just come across these as I was fixing up some fence out back. I need to go farther out back now and see if I can find more.

absolutely! mine as well... seems like the same when I go shed hunting. seems like I always find em when I'm not really trying to look and then almost step on em! lol what other plants were around do you recall? the research we've done at work people usually find them in a good mix of may apples, trillium and wild mustard. at least in my area. and then in leaf litter of a lot of different trees... I've heard oaks elms birch apples ash and more lol so that's not much help depending on your area but the other plants are always what I'll take a look at if I see a good patch of may apples. let me know when you get a chance and if you found that many there's most likely more!
