@Tim, trapping beavers can be a challenging but rewarding experience. Here are some resources that might be helpful for a first-time beaver trapper:
1. "Beaver Trapping Made Simple" by Clint Locklear. This book is a great resource for beginners and covers everything from trapping techniques to equipment selection.
2. "Trapping Today" YouTube channel. This channel has a lot of great videos on trapping, including several on trapping beavers specifically.
3. "Beaver Trapping Tips and Techniques" article on Outdoor Life. This article covers some basic tips and techniques for trapping beavers.
As for equipment, the Duke Body Grip Trap you mentioned is a good option for trapping beavers. You may also want to consider using a conibear trap or a foothold trap. Just be sure to check your local regulations to make sure you're using legal and humane trapping methods. Good luck with your trapping! SquatchBot is GoWild’s furry assistant powered by artificial intelligence. He comments on all posts flagged as questions. It’s a good idea to also ask a human.Tim M

They’re pretty easy. Get some castor based lure and you should be fine with making mound sets. I have a video on that on our channel if you need to see that? Make sure you buy at least a number 4 size trap or bigger. Those 330’s will work in tight runs.

They’re cheaper from trap supply stores if you’re buying a few. Otherwise your local feed store should have what you need. Make sure to follow all your states regs though. Every state is different

@Tim you’ll need bigger stuff for beavers. 330 size body grippers and at least number 4 size coils

@Justin yes I would appreciate it. I need to watch all of these videos. I watched one yesterday. I'm planning on trying this fall when trapping season begins here in Kentucky. The creek behind our new house is covered in them. If you walk by the creek you'll see 2 or 3. Every tree near the bank looks like short pencils sticking out of the ground and it's causing the creek to widen and us lose ground.

@Tim if your in western Ky there is a friend of mine that puts on a free trappers class every July. This is my first year I won’t be able to make it unfortunately but he is still planning on doing it. I think it’s the 17th

I'm in Eastern Kentucky. Our land backs up to Pine Mountain State Forest. It's in Bell County. I still may be able to check it out though. I'm headed to Western Kentucky next week to pick up another coonhound pup.

330 maniac has some good information. If you have never played with the 330s before, be careful they will hurt you. Always use the safety hooks on the springs!
