@Brad pulled bbq beaver and some jerky while we slay whatever fish is silly enough to be in the right conditions for a whoopin’ 👊🥃.

@Brian yessir, definitely stoked, thanks! I’m excited to eat it, but just as happy to have the pelt as a memento. Absolutely gorgeous.

@Mike it will look great hooped and hung on the wall.

@Brian can’t wait. Already asking around for some willow and hoping to get started this weekend after I reset the spot. They’re considered nuisance beaver here and the DNR wants them out. Hoping to get a couple more for @Shem to use and a few to hook me up with mittens as a trade👍. Just picked up another spot that looks promising too.

@Mike good luck, hope you hook Shem up with enough for you to get some mittens. The more you go after them, the more you will learn how to catch them.

@Brian so excited to learn about them. Honestly, we don’t have many around here and part of me wishes I could just go and watch them, but it’s definitely necessary to control their destructive behaviors. Plus, they’re tasty as heck, haha. The dam break here was the easy way, now I’d like to learn how to pick the right slide and go from there. This dam break was 1/4 mile from the den. Took 36 hrs but got it done on a good one!

@Mike did you save the caster out of the one you caught? You can make a mound set and use some of the caster as scent to catch them.
Mike L

@Brian yessir! Can’t wait to mix it with glycerin and make my own lure/paste.
Brian L

@Mike sounds like you got it, now to just catch them. Good luck and happy trails catching them flat tails. 👊🥃

@Brian thanks bud, new addictions are awesome when they’re wholesome, haha👊🥃

Beaver is the best wild meat! Change my mind.
Mike L

@Dale yessir, it really is. Unbelievably good. You’re a beast man, still up at 10:30 pm when white devils call for a 4am wake up, haha. Good luck with those! I keep remembering out last 4000 bird tornado that touched down on us. Best memory with my son yet!👊

Always heard the tail was a delicacy...I have never tried beaver
Mike L

@Derek 👍👊🥃

@Morgan the meat is much better than the tail to me. The old mountain men used the tail for a fat source. It’s pretty much pure fat minus some muscle directly around the bone. Good stuff though

Congratulations! That’s something I’d definitely be interested in trying, but would probably need a major lifestyle change in order to be successful at it. Maybe someday!
Mike L

@Katie thanks Katie! Honestly, the hardest part is finding places that are close enough to check daily. Beyond that it’s just investment of time and a little money. I pulled my other sets until this weekend simply because of work and kids’ sporting events during the weekdays. I don’t want to be fishing my hands around in the dark near traps under water😳
Donovan S

Wow. I guess I didn’t know they even got that big. Nice work my man. 👊🏼

@Mike yeah the daily checks are what would screw me up. We’re close to the mountains but not close enough that I’d be able to get up there every day
Mike L

@Donovan thanks boss👊🥃. Some guy in Wisconsin trapped a 110lb beaver 😳

@Katie sounds like a good way to be a weekend warrior in late winter as long as the snow isn’t too deep👍

@Jimmy thanks man, it’s been a life long bucket list item and it feels good to be there. Now I’m hooked on a new passion though, lol. Maybe I’ll change my mind after all the work of making a willow hoop🤷🏼♂️🤪
