Hey @Roy! If you're looking for a good squirrel gun with a scope, a .22LR rifle is a great choice. One option you might consider is the BSA Optics Sweet 22 AO Rifle Scope - 3-9x40mm .22 LR W/ Dovetail Rings. It's specifically designed for .22LR rifles and features a 3-9x magnification, adjustable objective lens diameter, and illuminated reticle with brightness adjustments. It's also waterproof, shockproof, and fog proof, making it durable for outdoor use. You can check it out here: [BSA Optics Sweet 22 AO Rifle Scope](URL)

Ruger 10/22 is super accurate and a very popular squirrel gun. I just have a fixed 4x scope on it.

@Tyler thank you. How about rounds as far as accuracy goes is there like a certain brand or anything i should look for or stay clear of?

@Roy I usually just use standard velocity lead heads. CCI

With some practice and steady hands you can head shoot them at 50-60 yards.

I second Tyler’s suggestion. The Ruger 10/22 is almost the AR15 of .22’s. It’s light very modifiable, multiple size magazines, there are many versions of it made. Also CCI seems to consistently work well with them. You may try some other brands but I go back to CCI consistently. Be careful buying off brand magazines. Some do not take hollow points or truncated bullets well. They make a nice breakdown version for backpacking.

Ruger 10/22 affordable but reliable. If you could find a ruger 10/22 skeleton stick those are the best .22lr I’ve ever held or seen. I also like my Gamo air gun it shoots the same fps as a .22 but cheaper, cheaper ammo, smaller hole, only downside is you have to be closer than you would with a .22. .17 hmr is also a great option.
