2011 was the year I decided that I would either shoot a big mature blacktail or eat my tag. I took the last week of October off and hunted everyday. the area I was hunting had alot of deer and I'd usually end the day with with does and smaller bucks in my sights.  there was a set of really big buck tracks there and some big nasty rubs that I knew didn't belong to the smaller bucks I'd been seeing. 
 Halloween morning last day of rifle season in my unit i got up at 3am and road my bike back 4 miles to this spot I'd been seeing the deer and the big set of tracks.  it was pouring down rain up until about 8am and then it just stopped.
 I started glassing looking for one of the deer I'd been seeing.  suddenly out of the trees comes the biggest buck I'd seen up till that point. he stopped for a moment and I took him at 297yards.
