Instead of editing my original post I wanted to add here for those who may wonder - I went with sweet bait and marshmallows for two reasons. First is that I worry about using fish as I don’t want to catch my neighbors’ cats. I know that outdoor cats are bad for the environment, but they’ve been great for keeping small vermin out of/away from our barn. The second is that the raccoons have tended to get into the sweeter grain, so I figured they’re wanting sweeter food, hence the sweet lure and marshmallows. I am open to suggestions though, as I’m newer to trapping than I am hunting, and that’s saying something 😂

put a small board on the trap pan (on the front). it will spring the trap earlier.

I use plywood and make it slightly smaller than the width of the trap.

It’s a piece I had laying around, without cutting a much larger piece down to size

yes sir. you may have to experiment with the length, but that is exactly the setup I use.

@Ashley thank you again! Had no luck last night, but we had some weather roll through and there were no tracks around, so I think the little bandit took the night off.
