Last Morning of Deer Season!

Happy hunting! I’m out here too hoping to get a non typical we have on camera

@Rachel good luck! I have to work this afternoon so I won’t be able to hunt

@Eddie thanks. With how this winds picked up though ain’t looking good

@Rachel I didn’t see anything but squirrels this morning. It was a disappointment

@Eddie I’ve seen two turkeys which was cool but annoying cause I can’t shoot lol. Any advice on calling?

@Rachel I’ve never had much luck with calling deer in. I’m still trying to learn that skill myself. So, if you figure it out, you might have to teach me lol

@Rachel I’m still fairly new at hunting myself. Just started hunting about 5-6 years ago. My son wanted to go so I took him and ended up falling in love with it myself. Now it’s become a great passion

@Eddie this is my 1st year hunting and yea after that 1st kill I was hooked. So I get the feeling for sure

@Rachel the good thing is the passion has laid

@Rachel the good thing is the passion has paid off. We haven’t bought meat in 3 years because we process our own and grind a lot of meat. Between deer and turkey, we have filled freezers year round

@Eddie that’s awesome! I’ll learn how to process next year

@Rachel I have to be gone for the next week to a conference but when I get back, I’m going to do a little squirrel hunting and see if maybe I can add some more variety to the meat selection in the freezer lol

@Eddie yes I’ll be trying squirrel hunting as well

@Rachel I could’ve got my limit this morning if I had been after squirrel. I had 8 in the field at one time this morning. Along with a handful of doves

@Eddie these doves are annoying haha I’ve been ready to shoot them!

@Rachel I’ve gotten used to them. I’ve got a woodpecker that drives me insane. At one point I was sure he was trying to drop a tree on me. Lol

@Eddie SAME! had 2 one day going back and forth. Someday I swear if certain things weren’t illegal to kill 🤣

@Rachel another time, I nearly jumped out of the shooting house and ran because I was sure a helicopter was landing on me, the same dang woodpecker flew right over top of me from tree to tree. He’s huge!

@Eddie I had a pig come up beside me not to far from my ground blink and I thought it was my dad at 1st. That joker got a little too close for comfort

@Rachel we got out first one on camera this year. We’ve been lucky with them so far. I’m afraid they are making their way over to us. A couple months ago, I looked out my back window at my house and there was one in the backyard. Turned out to be a pot belly though. Now she is in a pen with the chickens and turkeys lol

@Eddie haha we have 7 in one night and I tell you we will be hog hunting as soon as deer season is over

@Rachel that’s something I want to get into. Not many around where I am though. They are slowly making their way in so I figure in another couple years I will be able to get all the hog hunting I want.

@Eddie I’ve never been but I can imagine it’ll be fun. It’ll be night hunting

@Rachel any kind of hunting is fun. Deer season hasn’t even technically gone out yet and I’m already geared up for turkey season

@Eddie ha idk how I’ll feel about turkey season. There’s something about deer. I like deer over bear if you can believe it

@Rachel never been bear hunting either. I think I would probably like it though. Turkey hunting is something you can really get into when you have a fired up bird gobbling his head off at you. But I agree, deer hunting just really grabs ahold of you

@Eddie no matter how small when they pop up like ninjas there’s nothing like it

@Rachel it’s amazing at how quiet and stealthy they can be

@Rachel you are making me want to hunt again this afternoon lol. Unfortunately, I have to hunt criminals instead
