    Nice! were you using a true gar fly or did you manage to get a hook in him?

    @Appalachian I was gar hunting with gar flys. Bucktail on a short shank hook and a treble hook trailer. Not the biggest fan of rope flys.

    @Kentucky awesome, I was considering getting or tying some rope flies. How how come you don't like em?

    @Appalachian rope flys require patience after the take(which I lack😂) and they can be a mess to remove. Plus if they are not actively feeding and you have to get that reaction bite, the rope doesn’t seem to work as well. For the rope to be successful, they have to keep chewing the fly as they work it toward the back of their mouth.

    @Kentucky yeah that would be aggravating, I've sight fished quite a few on ultralight gear with #12 hooks, and live minnows weightless. I was able maintain a pretty significant hookup ratio. Sounds like I'll pass on the rope if I decide to chase them with flies
