Man what a story and I love hearing that kinda thing is even possible!

I was lucky enough to get an opportunity at a beautiful buck while hunting with a good buddy in IL. After setting up my mobile stand in the morning, I watched a buck move into my area from about 120 yards at 10:30 am. After realizing he was a good buck, I kept my eyes glued on him and started ranging possible places I may get a shot. Never got a chance, as while I was watching him, he got comfortable and bedded down in a hug blown down tree surrounded by grass and vines. 

After thinking through every scenario possible, I came to the conclusion that the odds of him working past my stand in range were very low and I decided to make a move. I climbed down, took off my boots and used the gusting winds of the cold front that had blown in to cover my noise as I attempted to get closer. 

I was able to sneak into 28 yards and find a small window between two fallen branches that I thought I might be able to shoot through when he rose. Watching his antlers above the fallen tree, I clipped my release on and waited. I only waited about 30 minutes before the buck began to stand, hind end first. I carefully drew back my bow and watched to see what he would do as he rose. He stayed completely relaxed as he shook his antlers side to side and glanced around his sanctuary. I settled my pin on his heart through the small window I had to shoot through. Without taking a step, I was able to sneak my arrow through the blowdown and his heart. He ran 55 yards and I watched the best buck of my life tip over in the grass. 

It was an unbelievable experience and one I will never forget.
