That’s a banded water snake, they are very aggressive and mistaken for Cottenmouths all the time. They flatten their head out to look like one but they are harmless

Yup, have to agree - Banded or Northern Brown water snake. Mean and ugly but harmless.

☝️this one is a very dull colored brown water snake, but they also come in more distinctly patterned versions like the one you had there.

There’s an app called seek that identifies most plants and animals. Yeah I know it’s called flora and fauna I just didn’t feel like speaking properly🤣 it says that’s a common water snake.

@Kyle we definitely have moccasins here. They just call them cottonmouths
