    That’s freaking awesome!👍😁

    I love the pot call too. And the book which I can’t wait to read. Many years ago I held a dead 2 year old nephew in my arms due to a accident on the ranch. If not for Jesus, I don’t know how I would have made it through those times. Thanks for the book.

    @Mason they are!

    As Mason said, they are awesome looking and bet they sound as good or better than they look if that’s possible. 👊🏻

    I just wish I had half the talent as Rick, but even then, nothing could say thank you enough for the hospitality that you and your family provided. Lifetime memories and hopefully friendships as well!

    @Mike absolutely, as I said before, you all have an open invitation to come back. There are relationships and there are great relationships. Most relationships take time for them to be great but I feel that we connected right from the start and that we have a great relationship.

    Dallas, I cannot tell you how much joy it brings this old man to give back to those like you, Miss Candy, and @Nate for welcoming @Mike , Wyatt Larsen and me onto your ranch and into your home! Making these tokens of our esteem is the very least I could do to show the appreciation I have for your hospitality. I have one more item to send as soon as I get it finished…. 😉

    @Dallas yessir, no doubt. And don’t forget I’m on your way to Traverse City if you ever get there!

  • Dallas's avatar

    @Mike when we head that direction I’ll stop in.

  • Mike's avatar

    @Dallas looking forward to that!

    @Gobbler I’ve been playing with the box call this evening and I’m getting the hankering to get a bird with it. I need more practice but I’ll get there.

  • Mike's avatar

    @Dallas I have full faith in you to accomplish that. I used the one I got from Rick last year for my first Merriam👍

    @Dallas and the pot call worked it’s magic for Wyatt’s bird this year so you need to christen that one properly also🦃

  • Dallas's avatar

    @Mike I will.

    Man those are special! Family heirlooms right there.

    So awesome! One of the many reasons I love this community. Rick does some incredible work.

    @Dallas I can think of few things which would make me happier than you harvesting a long-bearded, gobblin’ turkey lured into range by that box call!

  • Gobbler Knob's avatar

    @Derek thank you! ☺️ I whole-heartedly agree!

    @Brayden speaking of heirlooms, I am remiss in not complimenting @Lisa on her craftsmanship! I was able to see and handle the basket she made for @Dallas. ‘Tis a thing of beauty, that is! Well done, Lisa. Well done, indeed!

    @Gobbler very cool!

  • Lisa's avatar

    @Gobbler ok! I love you guys! 😇 And thank you Rick, for your words! I'm glad you got to see it and give me your opinion.🙏 I haven't been making baskets as long as you've been doing your Longrifles, call, etc, so I often wonder how others may view them.

    This was such a beautiful post, Dallas! I enjoyed reading about the incredible attention to detail that Rick put into the calls. He seems to know how to capture the treasures that a person holds dear, and place it within his work! So well done Rick! I think when you go through a lot (i.e. your book on grief), you have an easier time connecting with others.

    Dallas, you really make crafting things so much more enjoyable when you send things from your greatly loved ranch to crafters or artist (in Rick's case) to incorporate into their projects for you. It's just so wonderful!

    Thanks guys, for your friendships! It is in the top 5 of my treasured aspects of living
    🤜🏼🤛🏼 Serious.

    @Lisa the antler touch was totally Rick’s @Gobbler creativeness. That was totally unexpected and Nate told me about it after I opened it up. I have zero creativeness, I just find cool people like you and Rick to make things like that.

    You're kind, Dallas
