    Hunt downwind of it.

@Jake ok thank you. just sitting and waiting at it like a bait?

Very loaded question that’s hard to answer without knowing more. But as Jake mentioned above, be downwind of it. Be able to shoot it. Yes, sit it like bait. It helps so much though if you have an idea of where deer in the area are bedding, why they are traveling through there, was it a communication scrape vs a hormonal scrape, etc.

@John oh ok well thank you. I know of some clear cuts to the south.. and the whole ridge is filled with oaks that dropped this year but I don't know of a bed area around

If the cut is a few years old and thick it’s a good bet there is bedding happening there. Also, points in the upper 1/3 of a point on the leeward facing side. So if your primary wind is West like it is in most places, an East facing point in that upper 1/3 elevation is a good starting point to assume bedding. From there find thicker stuff and edges and what not. Another clue is what time the doe came through and what direction she came from. If she came from that cut in the last 2 hours or so if daylight for example, it’s a good bet she was bedded in that cut and got up to start looking for food.

@John I found the scrape around 1. I put up a camera and left. she came through at 1:45 and from the south east. the cut is about 1500ft south of this location so it's possible she came from the cut

@John but their trail run east and west

@Cree yeah likely not from the cut. Remember deer love edges and thick stuff and ridges. One of those 3 tend to be your best bets for bedding.

All the beer sign tells me they are alcoholic deer. So honestly I’d throw a 12 pack and a pack of red 100s out and wait they will show up. This is just a joke btw. Gotta be able to laugh some times lol.

I typically see bucks checking scrapes as much as 100 yds down wind. I set up down wind as far away as I’m comfortable shooting which is 40 yds for me. So I can cover 80 yds down wind. If that makes since.
