Truly amazing! It's beautiful, way to keep a lost art alive. That would look amazing in a wood strip canoe with big musky flies dangling from its edge @Tom

My hands hurt just looking at it. It’s fantastic! How many hours does something like that take?

@Appalachian @Tom @Dan @Jim @Mike Thank you so much! I enjoy doing it. I have 11 hours in on just the bottom. I never kept track of my time until this new one that I started a few days ago (my sister asked for one for her birthday). I soaked for 3 hours (way darker, and I prefer it),whereas this basket above, I only soaked 2 hours. After her basket, I plan to start a "bear" basket. I have some bear teeth that are being cleaned up. I do love doing them. A fish basket would be cool, with some flies on the sides 🤔. Hugs and thanks for the support!👇🏼 The beginning of the new basket (doesn't look like 11 hours😒)

@Lisa Wow! I bet some of the high dollar upland bird outfitters/lodges would buy those to add to their ambiance 😁😁 I'm sure you could make some tailored to any species right?

@Appalachian I agree that would be the perfect type of places for Lisa’s work.

@Appalachian & @Dan Thanks you two! I have 21 hours in on a basket my sister asked me to make for her bday. Then after that one, my bear one (which I'll probably set aside for Sons to have some day). I loved the fly fishing theme mentioned, and plan to go get some trout flies for a basket after this bear one. Thanks for that idea! I could do all sorts of different species. Some other ideas I've had were to use a raccoon hide that I "oops" and cut a hole when I was skinning him. Using part of that maybe. Or some some antlers on a basket. I love the ideas you're giving me too @Appalachian .

👆🏼 "some some," should be "some small" antlers. 🤦♀️

@Lisa hey you can stitch those holes while the flesh is still green and you'll never notice them on the fur side. I might know a guy who can get you some turkey feathers/ feet if you ever wanna make a turkey basket

@Appalachian Thanks! Tom Dekrey sent me those pheasant feathers you see above 👆🏼 (I only had about 4 pheasant feathers that I brought from MT when I returned to Ohio), and in the same box he sent me his turkey feathers. But the feet would be cool!!

@Dan Thanks Dan! I may do research here on GoWild and see about the best trout flies to purchase. I have 1 to finish and the bear one to start. I have some awesome friends here. The only social media I'm on. Appreciate everyone's encouragement & help🤜🏼🤛🏼

@Appalachian My mind is blown! Like completely. I was just going to run down to Cabella's and buy some, but if you have some that you can send, that would mean more. I'll DM you, and you tell me how much you'd want for the flies. @Dan Thanks Dan! I'd LOVE tying flies as a hobby! Have you ever tried? Looks easy enough...if a person knows what the nymphs etc all look like. Even then, surely there are tons of photos online. Such a cool cool thing to do. Thanks you two!

@Lisa well I was talking about sending turkey feet/feathers, but I could whip up some ornamental flies I'm sure. That's what I did for boutonnieres for my wedding. You'd just have to wait till after duck season so I could save feathers

@Appalachian Feet will work!😁 I'll be heading to Cabella's to grab some flies, so I really am good there, in all honesty. I look forward to that. Now the feet I can't get there.😁😉
