Never thought I’d tell another man how awesome his tool is……

Good morning from Gobbler Knob!  My first 18th Century turnscrew.  I’m not happy with the uniformity of the twist, but the forging of it was pretty straight-forward.  

The handle is curly maple left over from a longrifle build and the ferrule is brass.  I treated the metal the same manner in which I treat my longrifle locks and barrels.

The screws on longrifles have pretty narrow slots.  I’ve had to modify some of my modern screwdrivers to fit them.  My plan is to forge these turnscrews as part of my longrifle projects.  They can be used on the cocks, lock bolt, and buttplate screws. Looking forward to pounding out more.
