Some other tips for staying safe in cold weather include wearing layers, keeping your head and hands covered, and staying hydrated. Be sure to check the weather forecast before heading out. Don’t put your tung on the metal flagpole.   Make sure the diesel in your truck is treated.

@Eric Baurle so true. Growing up in North Dakota had tractors and the school bus gel up. Everyone had a bottle of treatment somewhere handy. 

How is everyone else faring with this cold snap? Does anyone want to throw out any pointers for folks who may not have experience with extreme cold temps? I mean this to include any facet of life, not just hunting, fishing, and the outdoors lifestyle. The general point is - people move all over the place and may not know what might seem like common sense to those of us who grew up with it, because they didn’t. Things like putting a little extra air in their tires because the air in them compressed as it gets colder, warm the flue to your wood stove prior to starting your tinder and kindling (to prevent the cold drafting down from filling your house with smoke), or  to not run your hands under really hot water/put them really close to a heat source when they’re cold to the point of numbness (gradually warm them, you aren’t feeling the heat because they’re numb and the hot water/close proximity to the heat source can actually do more damage to your skin). Those are some quick, simple, off the top of my head examples. I’ve rambled on long enough. Hopefully this garners some responses and ends up seen by folks it can help. Stay safe folks!
