Set the goal for myself to get a deer with a struggle stick. Longbow technically. But i gave up my compound and spent a year practicing with my longbow and getting good enough to make an ethical shot when the time finally came. Also, because im apparently a masochist, i wanted my first struggle stick deer to be from the ground, no blind. Giving up every advantage i could think of. Watched her feeding for about 45 minutes all within 30 yards. She finally stepped out broadside at 20 and loosed the arrow. She jumped my arrow which made the recovery a bit more dramatic than i would have liked, shooting right before dark has never been one of my favorite things to do as it is. But found her piled up the next morning about 200 yards from where i shot her.
