My friends and I decided to “rough” it in northern Minnesota near the BWCA. I drove 5.5 hours to camp and we set out early the next morning for grouse! Never had I seen a spruce grouse, beautiful darker bird with a vibrant red eye brow. We met very nice people throughout the weekend as well. The scenery in this area never disappoints either, we could’ve been skunked and I would be okay from seeing the view alone! I’m so thankful for friends that enjoy hunting and are passionate for conservation.  One of us said, standing around the fire with a full moon and stars above us, with a beverage and a belly full of cheddar hash brown venison sausage, and grouse we had shot that day,  “This is hunting who wouldn’t want this”
