I know nothing of the gentleman killed nor the one who killed him, so I can’t speak to the evil in this instance.  But I fully agree that laws (gun or otherwise) will not keep evil people from committing evil deeds.  Our prison populations is substantial proof to that.

I don't understand why people are so full of hate that they'd kill another human being. 

Japan also has some of the strictest gun laws in the world (swipe left). You can't prevent evil people from doing evil things.
