Great story Brian!  Got to love the assist by the neighbors. 

What a deer season it has been. 13 YO son wanted to get a deer with his compound. After lots of practice and some buck fever he was able to harvest 2 deer with his compound. He also harvested another with his .44 mag during gun season. Tagged out in that county. Very proud and excited for him, I had not yet  harvested a deer. It was dragging me down. Work has gotten in the way and the weather this season sucked. 

With muzzleloader opening yesterday I was pumped to get an evening hunt in after a morning at work. Rushed back to my family’s farm yesterday got geared up and upon loading my gun I noticed I failed to install my breach plug. Did I mention this was an hour drive from home. And I had brought my sons muzzleloader for a family friend to use that night. So instead of taking my sons gun I headed back home dejected. 

Woke up this morning feeling tired and hopeful for a successful season for myself. Got to my “gun stand” and sat all morning seeing no deer. Planning to move to a box blind at 11am to warm up and have some lunch. 10:38 rolled around and my chances were looking slim. Then I heard the sound of the late morning pushers clearing out the neighboring woods of deer. The stand I was in was positioned just for this purpose. Crashing is what came next snd I knew what that meant so I grabbed my muzzleloader with just enough time to draw back the hammer and there he was. Leading the group. A buck we have been watching due to his lopsided antler size. He stopped directly behind me within archery range. And with a puff of smoke, my season was all I ever wanted!
