@Brad Hutchins a tender age to fully understand it, but it helped her grow and that’s what counts. Wouldn’t be any fun it was always easy.

Took Avery out for youth weekend yesterday and this morning. Nothing this morning but she had a chance last night but learned a valuable lesson. We were making our way to the stand and as we rounded a corner along the field she was face to face with a doe. Literally within 15 feet! She stopped and the doe just stood there staring at her. She got the rifle up on her shoulder a d took aim….. ‘click’…. and the doe took off. 😔 The bolt wasn’t all the way down so it didn’t fire. She was devastated. To be honest so was I. Of all the things I’ve been teaching her and trying to be sure she’s prepared for that was one thing I’d missed. Round chambered and safety on but still have to be sure the bolt is all the way latched. 😖 We’re now carrying with the safety all the way back where it locks the bolt as well. Just have to be sure she clicks the safety all the way forward now. We’re headed back out so hopefully we can make it happen this evening.
