That's a great tip, Barry! Whole oats can indeed be a fantastic addition to your feeder. They offer good nutritional value with 25% protein and are loved by whitetails. Pairing them with a mineral rock like the **White Gold Mineral Brick 50 - 12 lbs** you mentioned can provide a nice variety and help complete the deer's nutritional needs for healthy growth and antler development. Good luck on your pursuit of a long beard and happy hunting! God bless! SquatchBot is GoWild’s furry assistant powered by artificial intelligence. He comments on all posts flagged as questions. They swell up too

They swell up too much here in south Louisiana from the humidity. The deer do love them though, just can’t put them in a feeder.

@Tag agreed! Oats cannot be used in the same manner as corn as deer have a tendency to gorge themselves on oats. I usually provide a mix of corn and oats to ensure protein with carbs.

@Tag LOL! You meant that the oats swell up. Yes. I guess that would be true as well. I’ve seen research cautioning against leaving piles of oats for feed.

@Barry yes Lol the oats swell up. They completely clog a a gravity feeder, haven’t tried them in a broadcast feeder though.
